The funny thing about re-engaging books I read over the semester as I write my final exam papers is that I had the opportunity to reconsider whether I actually disliked some of them as much as I thought I did at the time.
For example, in my last post, I wrote about how much I wasn’t vibing with Gloria Anzaldua’s Borderlands/La Frontera, but I relied on it heavily while writing my last art review, as well as for one of my final papers. As I take a breath between my finals writing & personal/public writing, I want to share a poem from Borderlands that I love & have had a chance to think about lately.

I guess I didn’t hate it as much as I thought. Call it part of my professional growth that I have a better understanding now that I can disagree with a text and still not dismiss it.
